A little about JD

Besides being a lifelong avid reader, I’ve been surrounded by the written word for most of my career in advertising and marketing. Even way back in my high school Stylistics class, I demonstrated an acuity for dissecting sentences into various parts and understanding the proper usage of each word. Throughout the years I have developed and refined these skills whenever I am reading. For me, typos seem to jump off the page as if they are in flashing marquee lights. Furthermore, differences in formatting and styles are also apparent to me. These errors in spelling, grammar or punctuation derail the natural flow and interrupt the reader’s experience. Another unfortunate result of these mistakes is that the credibility of the author or source is then put into question.

My love of reading, along with my ability to spot these pesky errors, have organically led to an interest in proofreading on a professional level. Though the title is fairly new, I do have several years of proofreading and copyediting experience through my current and previous positions. I even proved my proofreading chops by earning a certificate (below). I am actively seeking work to grow my client base and portfolio.
